What March 14, 2027 changes for western Canada
Nothing happens to clocks in BC, Alberta or Manitoba. What changes is the gap with everyone else, because the rest of the continent moves forward and catches up:
| Gap with | Nov 7 to March 14 (winter) | March 14 to Nov 7 (summer) |
|---|---|---|
| Vancouver and Seattle or LA | BC 1 hour ahead | Same time |
| Vancouver and Toronto | 2 hours | 3 hours |
| Calgary and Toronto | 1 hour | 2 hours |
| Calgary and Denver | Calgary 1 hour ahead | Same time |
| Winnipeg and Toronto | Same time | 1 hour |
| Winnipeg and Chicago | Winnipeg 1 hour ahead | Same time |
So the summer looks exactly like it always has. Winter is the new part. Gaps for any pair of cities are in the time difference pages, and the meeting planner picks the right offset for whatever date you choose.
Meetings, schedules and devices in March
- Recurring meetings that moved by an hour in November move back in March. If you fixed a series by hand in November, check it again on March 14. Our free calendar check finds every meeting affected, and this guide explains how to fix them.
- TV and game times listed as “PT”, “MT” or “CT” match BC, Alberta and Manitoba again from March 14. More on reading PT times.
- Phones and computers with up-to-date software won’t jump forward in BC, Alberta or Manitoba. Older devices, car clocks and radio-controlled clocks might. Check your devices or see which clocks change by themselves.
Could the US stop changing its clocks before 2027?
The US House of Representatives passed the Sunshine Protection Act (H.R. 139) on July 14, 2026, but the Senate hasn’t voted on it. Until a bill becomes law, the US changes its clocks on the dates above. If it does pass, we’ll update this page and the change log.
FAQ
When does the time change in 2027 in Canada?
Clocks go forward one hour at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 14, 2027, and back one hour at 2:00 AM on Sunday, November 7, 2027. That applies in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, Newfoundland and Labrador and Nunavut.
Does BC change its clocks in 2027?
No. BC stays at UTC−7 all year from Nov 1, 2026, so its clocks don’t change on March 14 or November 7, 2027. Only BC’s East Kootenay differs: it follows Alberta at UTC−6 all year.
Does Alberta change its clocks in 2027?
No. Alberta stays at UTC−6 all year, called Alberta Time (ABT). The Northwest Territories made the same change.
Does Manitoba change its clocks in 2027?
No. Manitoba stays at UTC−5 all year from Nov 1, 2026, along with the part of northwestern Ontario that follows Manitoba’s time.
Does Ontario change its clocks in 2027?
Yes. Most of Ontario still changes: forward on March 14, 2027 and back on November 7, 2027. The exceptions are Atikokan, which stays on Eastern Standard Time all year, and the northwest areas that follow Manitoba.
Do I lose an hour of sleep on March 14, 2027?
Only if you live somewhere that still changes its clocks. At 2:00 AM the clocks jump to 3:00 AM. In BC, Alberta, Manitoba, the NWT, Saskatchewan and Yukon nothing happens.
What happens to my meetings on March 14, 2027?
Meetings with people in the US or eastern Canada shift by an hour relative to BC, Alberta and Manitoba again, this time back the other way. A meeting with Seattle that moved an hour in November lines up again from March 14. Your calendar handles it if the meeting uses the right time zone.
When do clocks go forward in the UK in 2027?
Sunday, March 28, 2027, two weeks after North America, and back on Sunday, October 31, 2027, a week before North America.
